VP Commercial: Full-Time | Calgary-Based (hybrid)

ABOUT AROLYTICS

Arolytics is on a mission to improve operational efficiency in oil and gas through the lens of strategic emissions management. Our platform AroIQ turns raw SCADA signals (pressures, temperatures, flows, valve states, etc) into emission event detection, root cause analysis, and volume quantification, bridging the gap between operations teams and environmental teams at some of the largest energy companies in North America. We are at the forefront of software-based emissions monitoring. Beyond software, Arolytics has grown to be a trusted advisor in the oil and gas emissions space, leading a variety of consulting work ranging from technology modelling, regulatory and standards research, and OGMP 2.0 services.

We've been in this space since 2018, and we're at an inflection point. Our customers are scaling, our models are getting sharper, and we need a VP Commercial to scale our company to the next level.

THE ROLE

This is Arolytics' first dedicated Commercial Leadership hire. You will own business development, sales, and marketing, building out the function from a strong foundation as we scale.

You'll report to the CEO and sit on the leadership team. You must be someone who can walk into a room with a VP of Operations at a major E&P, credibly discuss technical topics including emissions challenges, oil and gas facility operations, and AI / ML applications, and then close.

You will be expected to carry your own deals, build and manage the pipeline, and simultaneously develop the marketing and BD function around you with support of the CEO.

Note: We put emphasis on finding a strong culture fit and a candidate with extreme drive and willingness to learn, over someone who meets all technical qualifications yet doesn’t fit with our culture. Trust is everything in our industry. Emotional intelligence over paper qualifications often prevails.

WHAT YOU'LL OWN

1) Business Development & Sales

  • Own the full sales cycle from outreach to close across Canadian and US oil and gas operators (upstream, midstream, integrated). Your efforts will be supported by the CEO and CPTO
  • Lead discovery calls, demos, pilot scoping, proposal development, and contract negotiation
  • Build and maintain relationships with Operations, HSE, Environmental/Sustainability, and Data Governance decision-makers at E&P and midstream companies
  • Manage and grow our HubSpot pipeline; drive rigour in deal tracking, stage progression, and forecasting
  • Represent Arolytics at industry conferences and events
  • Identify and pursue strategic partnership opportunities
  • Support the product and services teams with customer relationships and renewals

2) Marketing

  • Own the marketing strategy, working with the leadership team and marketing contractor for support
  • Shape Arolytics' external positioning and messaging, ensuring technical accuracy and competitive differentiation
  • Oversee LinkedIn and website content strategy, conference presence, and support thought leadership

3) Team & Function Building

  • Work closely with the CPTO and CEO to ensure market feedback shapes the product roadmap
  • Collaborate with Expert Services to ensure sales commitments are achievable and implementation is set up for success
  • Act as a leadership team member, contributing to company strategy, team activities, and building culture
  • Support with board updates, and grant writing as needed

WHAT YOU BRING

Must-Haves

  • 7+ years in commercial roles (sales, business development, strategy, customer success) in oil and gas, energy technology, or adjacent software/services
  • OR, 7+ years in relevant technical roles (Oil and Gas facility engineering, emissions management), with a keen interest in expanding your skill set towards commercial activities
  • Genuine technical fluency: you can discuss process control data, SCADA, AI/ML-based detection, emissions quantification methodology, and other relevant topics to a level appropriate for client conversations
  • Familiarity with the upstream and/or midstream O&G operating environment (asset types, emission sources, SCADA infrastructure, operational workflows, buyer personas)
  • Strong network in Canadian and/or US oil and gas, you know who to call at the companies we're targeting
  • Excellent communicator: crisp, direct, and able to tailor your message for Ops, Sustainability, HSE, and C-suite audiences
  • Comfort in a fast-paced startup environment

Strong Assets

  • Strong familiarity with methane regulations and frameworks such as EPA Subpart W, Canada's methane framework, OGMP 2.0, MiQ, TIER, etc.
  • Proven track record closing enterprise deals with long cycles and multiple stakeholders (6-12 month deal timelines are familiar territory)
  • Background in oil and gas SaaS or technology sales (vs. services/consulting only)
  • Experience in US market and familiarity with US operators
  • Comfort with HubSpot or comparable CRM for pipeline management
  • Prior involvement in conference strategy, thought leadership, or investor-facing communications

WHAT YOU WON'T FIND HERE

  • A large team to inherit. You're building it.
  • A formulaic playbook. Our buyers are sophisticated, our technology is novel, and every deal requires real discovery.
  • Overly defined processes and structure. You’ll be comfortable with ambiguity, and will be excited to shape and define your own day to day.

WHAT WE OFFER
